Coastal Maine Foot and Ankle was founded by Dr. Barry White in 2020 and opened the doors on June 15th. Dr. White has been practicing in Maine for the past 17 years and after working as a partner in 2 large group practices made the decision to open his own practice here in Yarmouth. He is excited to be bringing the experience and knowledge he has gained over the past 17 years to open what he is confident will become the Center of Excellence in Foot and Ankle Care here in Maine. Dr. White and his staff at Coastal Maine Foot and Ankle are committed to providing you and your family the best, most advanced Foot and Ankle Healthcare available with a personal and compassionate touch only possible in a small practice.
A native of New England Dr. White was raised in the Boston area and spent many summers vacationing here in Maine with family and friends. He attended Springfied College for his undergraduate education where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree is Sports Biology. He then received his medical education at Temple University where he graduated with honors as the class Salutatorian. He went on to complete a 3-year surgical residency at the Graduate Hospital in Philadelphia where he was chief resident during his final year. He is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons and is Board Certified in Foot Surgery as well as Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery. He has specialized training in Reconstructive Foot and Ankle surgery as well as Charcot Reconstruction. Dr. White remains active in professional education and lectures locally, nationally, and internationally on various foot and ankle topics. He also serves as the site director at Maine Medical Center for the Cambridge Hospital Residency rotation. Dr. White has extensive experience in all aspects of Foot and Ankle Care including surgical and conservative means of treatment. He specializes in bunion and hammertoe surgery, 1st MPJ arthritis, heel pain syndrome, tendon injuries and fractures of the foot and ankle as well as Diabetic Limb Salvage. He also now offers a new extremely effective in-office treatment for Plantar warts called Swift. He is on staff at Mercy Hospital and Maine Medical Center and also operates out of the InterMed Surgical center. Outside of the office he enjoys staying active and is an avid hockey player and fisherman. One of his greatest joys is spending time outdoors with his wife and kids during the summer months at Camp.
